CALLBOARD COLLECTIVE - Theatre Goods for Every Role!

This all started with a bitmoji.

Years ago, when I was working as a standby in Come From Away, we’d send each other cartoons of ourselves in superhero capes. It became a badge of honour — a joke between us about how insanely hard the job was… and how damn good we were at it.

Fast forward to this summer: I’ve been off performing to focus on healing some injuries. While the rest was necessary, the creative void was real. I needed something to make. So, I pulled that old cape idea off the shelf and thought, What if I actually did something with this?

Now somehow... I’m a small business owner.

I’ve designed and launched a line of over 50 products for the people I love most — the crew, the standbys, the creatives, the stage managers — all of whom keep the curtain up and don’t always get the glory.

I kept this whole thing a secret (only my fiancé knew), and honestly? I’m nervous to put it out there. But I’m also proud. This project reminded me that creativity can take a lot of shapes — and this one really surprised me.

✨ My shop is called Callboard Collective, and you can visit it right here:

Everything’s made to order and fulfilled by Printful. And for launch week, I’m donating $1 from every shirt sold (up to July 31st) to the Actor’s Fund of Canada (AFC) — a nod to the folks who help artists when they need it most.

If you’re someone who lives and breathes this world — or just loves someone who does — I hope you’ll take a look, share it around, and maybe even treat yourself (or your stage manager).

Thanks for reading, and thanks for being in my corner.

COME FROM AWAY - Mirvish Productions, Junkyard Dogs, National Arts Centre

Cailin is absolutely over the moon to finally be able to announce that not only will she be returning to Come From Away in Toronto this coming fall, but she will be doing it in the role she has dreamed of playing ever since hearing the original soundtrack years ago! After nearly 6 years of being a standby with both the original Toronto and Broadway 1st National Tour companies, she finally gets to step into the role of Beverley & Others!

This new Canadian production will be opening in Toronto in September 2024, after playing a limited run at the NAC in Ottawa in August. The open-ended production features both old and new company members and will be back in its original “home” - The Royal Alexandra Theatre.

THE FULL MONTY - Neptune Theatre

Happy New Year to you all! 2024 is off to a great start with a very small amount of downtime before travelling out to Halifax, NS for my debut with Neptune Theatre! The Full Monty is the Americanized musical stage adaptation, which is based on the British film of the same name from 1997, and it follows six jobless Buffalo steelworkers who, desperate for money and opportunities, decide to perform as strippers at a local bar after witnessing their wives' excitement for a traveling Chippendales troupe. Through overcoming their inner demons and finding strength in their friendship, they overcome their fears, self-consciousness, and anxiety as they get ready for the event.

I’m so thrilled to be revisiting this show (I did it back in 2008 at The Mayfield Dinner Theatre) but now in the role of Vicki Nichols. I’m also thrilled to be working under the direction of one of my dearest friends, Julie Tomaino, who will be directing and choreographing what is sure to be a super fun show!

Running from March 26th to May 19th. You can find more info and tickets HERE!

WE WILL ROCK YOU - SaskExpress

Cailin is thrilled to be returning home as a guest star alumna in We Will Rock You for SaskExpress. She always explains to people that if they know a professional musical theatre performer who grew up in Saskatchewan, then they probably did SaskExpress growing up. The show runs December 7th to the 17th in Regina, and will even have performances in Yorkton and Saskatoon! Cailin is loving rockin’ out as Killer Queen in this epic musical and can’t wait for Regina audiences to see it!

A FEW GOOD MEN - Drayton Entertainment

Exciting news to share! Once the tour of Come From Away closes in May, I will be heading to Cambridge, Ontario for my debut with Drayton Entertainment! I am beyond thrilled that I will be playing the role of Lt. Cmdr. Joanne Galloway in the play A Few Good Men. It’s amazing to think that this will be the first show I’ve done other than Come From Away, in nearly six years!!! Wow!

Before it became an Academy-Award winning movie, A Few Good Men was the groundbreaking first play written by Aaron Sorkin. Based on true events, inspired by Sorkin’s sister, it tells the story of a group of military lawyers assigned to defend two marines stationed in Guantanamo Bay. Running at the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge from July 5th to July 23rd.

Visit the website HERE for more information, tickets and to see the stellar cast and creative team Drayton has lined up!

COME FROM AWAY - The North American Tour!!!

I have HUGE news and it’s so exciting! I am thrilled to announce that I will be joining the North American Tour of Come From Away! At the end of September, after returning from the concerts in Newfoundland with the Canadian company, I will be resuming my job as one of the standbys for the remainder of the tour (into May 2023); only this time I will be covering 5 roles instead of 4! There will be a few of us Canadian cast getting to go - it will be like meeting our extended family members!!

This amazing production will be travelling to a number of cities in Canada and the USA. For the tour schedule and ticket information, please click HERE.

COME FROM AWAY - ACC & Come Home Year 2022

Cailin is thrilled to announce that she’s going back to THE ROCK! The cast and band from the Toronto production of Come From Away (with the addition of a few special cast members) will be reuniting to bring Come From Away in Concert to Newfoundland and Labrador as part of the Come Home 2022 celebrations!

PORCHSIDE SONGS - The Musical Stage Co.

Cailin is thrilled to be making her Musical Stage Co. debut this summer with Porchside Songs. Her and Kevin Wong (composer-lyricist, singer/musician, and dramaturg) will be teaming up to bring you Big Songs - a diverse and dazzling array of original songs by Kevin, taken from his repertoire of existing and upcoming musicals, and classic songs that influenced them growing up.

Porchside Songs is The Musical Stage Company’s celebrated outdoor cabaret series , which brings music into Toronto communities via street-facing front porches. Two dynamite musical duos will tour around the GTA, creating music in the streets and providing space for communities to gather safely.

Come From Away Closes Permanently In Toronto

I have been avoiding this post for weeks now, but it’s time to face it. It is with great sadness and frustration that we have all been forced to say goodbye to our beautiful production of Come From Away. Unfortunately, the complications due to the Covid pandemic, and having no government support system in place to help with the necessary shutdowns, has meant that Mirvish Productions and Junkyard Dogs Productions have been forced to shut down the show permanently. This news came as a great blow to all of us who have come to think of the Royal Alex Theatre as our second “home”, and of each other as family. This unceremonious shutdown of Canada’s most successful musical in history has highlighted the lack of government support of the arts industry in our country. You can read more about the closure and the issues leading up to it HERE.

Thank you to all of you family, friends and fans for your constant support over these last few years. Being a company member of this show changed my life and I will forever be grateful for my experience with it. I am heartbroken that we are being forced to say goodbye far too early than we should have been, but I am choosing to believe that my time with the show is not over. Please support the arts where and when you can.

COME FROM AWAY - Mirvish Productions & Junkyard Dog Productions

The time has finally come! After nineteen months of being “on pause” due to Covid-19, Come From Away will finally be re-opening on December 15th at The Royal Alexandra Theatre!

To say I’m excited would be an understatement. The entire cast and crew are thrilled to be back together again to bring this beautiful show to our wonderful audiences. Tickets go on sale on November 10th. You can find tickets and info HERE.

Thank you all for your continued support. See you soon!

I MISS LIVE THEATRE!

EDF8C272-D640-4D6D-976B-57A3077D2812.jpg

Well, it’s been nearly one year since live theatre was shut down because of Covid-19. It has been a difficult year for live theatre artists, but we’re doing everything we can to weather the storm and remain hopeful for the future. Rest assured that Come From Away will be back up and running as soon as we are allowed. The tentative timeline looks like September 2021. In the meantime, please keep following public health measures and supporting the artists in your life any way you can!

STANDING BY - The year of 2020!

Please+Stand+By+image.jpg

2020 has been…let’s say…an interesting year. March 13th marked the last public performance of Come From Away because, the next day, everything changed. COVID-19 has had a tragic effect on the arts & culture sector in this city and around the world. This time of year would normally see the launch of everyone’s seasons. Theatre, Dance, and Opera would all be celebrating the coming year of wonderful art making. Not this year. Due to the COVID pandemic, the arts sector is suffering devastating losses. We were the first to close and we will be the last to reopen. We are hurting. In Toronto alone, the numbers so far are as follows: 25,000 cancelled or postponed performances; $500 million lost ticket sales; 20 million lost audience members. I and many, MANY people I love are out of work with no guarantee of when that will change.

I miss performing. I miss Come From Away. I miss all my friends and co-workers that love making art. We will be back- that I can assure you. We’re just not sure when. Please keep supporting artists however and whenever you can, and continue your support for them and all arts organizations until this is all over.

Keeping up hope. xo Cailin

After an extremely successful nine month run at the historic Elgin Theatre, Come From Away is moving “back home” to the Royal Alexandra Theatre. While it’s oh so bittersweet to be leaving our beloved Elgin theatre, it’s time for us to return to the place it all began. The show will be re-opening again, with shows starting on December 13th, fresh from performing at a super-fun benefit for the Daily Bread Food Bank where we raised $30,000 in a matter of minutes after the tickets going on sale.

You don’t want to miss this show - it’ll make you proud to be Canadian. It’ll make you proud to be human!
